Course Content

This program prepares students for entry-level positions in medical laboratories, including those in doctors’ offices, specialty clinics, and hospitals. With a strong focus on phlebotomy, students receive hands-on training in laboratory procedures, specimen collection, safety practices, and basic diagnostic testing. The program builds the skills needed to support laboratory technologists, physicians, pathologists, and other healthcare professionals while helping ensure accurate diagnoses and quality patient care. Ideal for individuals pursuing a fast-paced, high-demand healthcare career, the program delivers practical instruction that reflects current industry standards and workforce needs..

Admission Requirements:

  • Attend an ATC Program Information Session
  • Basic Skills Testing or Exemption
  • Meet with Program Counselor/Advisor
  • Clearance on FDLE Level II Background Check*
  • Negative Drug Test Results
  • Immunizations & Physical

* Students enrolling in any Health Science Education program must undergo a Level II criminal background check and drug screening, per The Joint Commission. Students who do not have a valid social security number may encounter difficulty with certain state licensing agencies and registries. Contact the program counselor advisor for specific information.


 

Industry Certification & State Credential Exams:

Students will be prepared to take an approved state and/or nationally recognized industry certification or licensure exam in their field of study. Exam costs are additional; however, you may qualify for reimbursement of your exam cost(s) upon passing. See your program counselor/advisor for more information.

College Credit Transfer Opportunity and/or Advanced Standing:

Upon completion of the program, you may be eligible to receive FREE associate degree transfer credits from Broward College or another state college.
